Announcing Foundation Capital Fund 9

We’re pleased to christen our newly raised and ninth fund, Foundation Capital Fund 9 (FC9). FC9 is a $350-million fund from which we will continue to invest in early-stage companies.

Now entering our 24th year of venture investing, Foundation Capital’s record includes $3 billion in committed capital, which we’ve helped to convert into $300+ billion in market cap, and 28 IPOs including Netflix, one of only five companies started in the past quarter-century with a market cap of $100+ billion. More recent successes include Sunrun, LendingClub, TubeMogul, and Chegg.

With FC9 we continue our singular focus on partnering with extraordinary early-stage entrepreneurs to build the greatest companies of our time. We make 10-12 new investments a year and limit the number of board seats that any one of us takes to single digits, in order to ensure that each of our startups gets the attention and assistance that they need to break out. Because our commitment is to do whatever it takes to help our companies succeed; we consider ourselves not just investors but invested.

FC9 will be led by general partners Ashu Garg, Charles Moldow, and Steve Vassallo. We continue our founder-focused, prepared-but-open-minds approach to investing that has made FC8 one of the best performing funds of its vintage.
