Introducing the Bolt Threads Spider Silk Tie

After five years and nearly 200 person-years of work, a team of scientists and engineers at Bolt Threads has produced a necktie made of 100% human-made spider silk. (Watch CEO Dan Widmaier debut it at SXSW this past weekend.) To celebrate this achievement, the first of many product releases from Bolt Threads, they asked a few of their favorite people (and ours) to model it, including a couple of ground- breaking athletes, actors, an entrepreneur, a Bay Area fashion blogger, and a world-renowned silk researcher.
