At Foundation Capital, Matthew invests in crypto and frontier financial infrastructure. He is particularly interested in protocols that reshape how value moves across networks, whether through decentralized finance, new data layers, or systems that enable entirely new internet-native economies. He is drawn to founders who see blockchains not just as technology, but as coordination tools that unlock new kinds of markets.
Before joining Foundation, Matthew was a protocol research analyst at Messari, where he analyzed networks like Solana. His work focused on turning complex onchain data and ecosystem developments into research used by institutional investors and builders across the industry.
Matthew earned both his Bachelor’s and Master of Engineering degrees from MIT in Computer Science, Data Science, and Economics. While at MIT, he was deeply involved in the campus crypto ecosystem through the Sloan Blockchain Club and played varsity baseball, an experience that shaped his appreciation for teamwork, discipline, and competition.
Originally from Georgia, Matthew still spends much of his free time around sports, whether breaking down baseball analytics for the Braves, playing golf, or watching college football. He is also an unapologetic Star Wars enthusiast and is always happy to debate the galaxy far, far away.
