IT + Security RSA 2024 Happy Hour

San Francisco felt more like NYC as over 50,000 attendees descended downtown for the RSA Conference. We hosted our 6th annual RSA Happy Hour in our brand-new San Francisco office! Over 60 CISOs and CIOs, 25 early-stage founders and 20 channel partners joined us from around the world to talk about the future of cybersecurity. The highlight was a fireside chat hosted by Foundation Capital Partner Sid Trivedi featuring Shaun Khalfan, CISO at PayPal, and Tim Dawson, CISO at Caesars Entertainment. We delved into the dynamic threat landscape, tackling pertinent topics from the escalating issue of ransomware to the emergence of GenAI-powered phishing. We also touched on the best way for founders to approach and work with Fortune 500 customers.

Shaun Khalfan, CISO at PayPal
Shaun serves as the CISO of PayPal where he is responsible for implementing the information security strategy, enabling the business, and securing customer data, digital assets, and payments. Prior to PayPal, Shaun served as CISO of Discover Financial Services, Barclays International, Freddie Mac and the US Customs and Border Protection. He serves on the board of the Kohl Children’s Museum, is an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University, and an independent director at Valimail.
Tim Dawson, CISO at Caesars Entertainment
Tim is the CISO of Caesars Entertainment where he is responsible for leading the cybersecurity strategy across over 50 properties globally. Before joining Caesars, Tim was the Global CISO at UBS, EVP of Cybersecurity Technology at Wells Fargo, Cybersecurity CTO at HSBC and Head of Cybersecurity Technology at JP Morgan. During his over 20-year tenure, Tim has overseen various early-stage incubation and investment projects including with CrowdStrike, FireEye, Splunk, Kenna Security, Menlo Security, and Tanium.
