Apoorva’s deep understanding of go-to-market design and appreciation for technical insight gives him a unique lens when it comes to all aspects of investing and working with founding teams. A born engineer, Apoorva has a wealth of operating experience that spans product development, deployment, P&L management and go-to market. After almost a decade as a founder and operator, Apoorva returned to his venture roots in early 2019, joining Foundation Capital as a partner focused on data infrastructure, developer tools, machine learning, and cloud-based applications. Apoorva has invested in Outerbounds (Metaflow), Tabular (Apache Iceberg), Levo, Electric Sheep, ’nuffsaid, and Memora Health. He works closely with Foundation’s portfolio companies OpsMx and Arize. His journey with venture capital started more than a decade back when he joined Lightspeed Venture Partners, where he focused on enterprise and consumer investments.
Prior to Foundation, Apoorva was the Vice President of Enterprise Sales at Quid, a growth stage NLP and ML platform. At Quid, Apoorva helped establish a new business vertical that soon became a multi-million-dollar business. He identified the market need, established product market fit and built a playbook to scale the business. He’s worked closely with CXOs and GMs of business units in Fortune 500 companies to understand their challenges and design use cases that uniquely address those needs. Along the way, he surveyed the ML landscape and also partnered with technologies across the ML stack to enable more use-cases and build differentiated go-to-market models.
As a co-founder of Funnl Labs, Apoorva developed an ML platform focused on aggregating and personalizing communication across channels – email, social media and messaging. Funnl was selected in the Wharton Venture Initiation Program and won the Wharton Innovation Award and the Snider Seed Award.
Apoorva earned his MBA from the Wharton School and a bachelor’s in engineering from IIT Delhi.
