Harsh Patel, Entrepreneur-in-ResidenceHarsh has lived in the technology startup world for over 15 years, wearing nearly every hat along the way as an engineer, founder, operator, and investor. Most recently he was President of Bina Technologies, founded at Stanford to pioneer a new approach in big data analytics for genomics—a key enabler for personalized medicine.
As a General Partner at RRE Ventures and earlier with In-Q-Tel (the venture capital arm of the CIA), Harsh led a number of early stage investments, most notably Palantir Technologies, Tendril and Flipswap (now ERecyclingCorps). He has also been an angel investor in a number of seed stage companies including Badgeville, SnappyTV, Bunndle and GrubWithUs.
Prior to becoming a VC, Harsh was Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Orbit Commerce (acquired by Digital River, NASD:DRIV) where he designed one of the first SaaS platforms for small business eCommerce. He also led strategic accounts including FedEx, Network Solutions and Gateway Computer to white label the Orbit platform. Harsh began his career in enterprise technology R&D for Accenture, where he built solutions for AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, American Express and other Fortune 500 clients.
Harsh holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He serves on the Board of the University of Illinois Silicon Valley Roundtable and the Board of Anjna Patient Education, as well as advising a number of early stage startups. Harsh is an avid photographer, a mediocre rock climber and a hardcore Chicago sports fan. He lives in San Francisco with his wonderful wife, who loves to travel as much as he does.
